Welcome to LodgingGuide's hospitality industry listings for the Tallahassee area.
The area of north Florida where the main body of the state makes a right angle into the panhandle is called the Big Bend region. The Appalachian Mountain range terminates here in rolling green foothills. The many lakes and the Gulf of Mexico provide a paradise for the sports fisherman. Tallahassee is in the middle of it all, and is home to Florida State University, Florida A&M University, and the cultural richness these institutions bring here. Florida's capital city, the central advertising agency for all of Florida, is a great place to inform yourself about the rest of the state and refine your vacation plans, though the Tallahassee area itself is more aligned with the southern and country ambiance of the panhandle than the sun and fun centers further south. Tallahassee is old magnolia and veranda Florida, Spanish moss hanging everywhere, with a humid, still and fragrant atmosphere that ought not be disturbed by anything as noisy, modern, or instrusive as air conditioning. Tallahassee has become as contemporary and climate controlled as anywhere else, but fortunately many historic homes and older structures still do exist, which have preserved the more relaxed and natural quality of earlier times, and you owe it to yourself to experience them. Tallahassee should be enjoyed, as is, so dress lightly and try to move at a slower pace while you are here.
